Transformers Power of the Primes Deluxe Class Blot: Who made Dr. Frankenstein's assistant a Transformer?

Finally, a second Terrorcon to review. Hopefully, this doesn't end up like Volcanicus, and the remaining limb bots are impossible to find. While other combiner teams go with a consistent theme to them, the Terrorcons were one of the teams that didn't have a consistency to them other than being monsters. The only other that comes to mind, in terms of Generation 1 Combiners is their Autobot counterpart, the Technobots. We go from a double-headed dragon to a... troll? Ogre? To tell you the truth I honestly don't know what this is supposed to be. I can at least review him, so I will.

Starting in ambiguous monster mode, while not great, it will do the job of being an ambiguous monster. A problem it has though is that it puts in very little effort to hide where the robot is. It's on the levels of Power of the Primes Swoop, though that one tucks the arms in at least, whereas Blot uses the robot arms as the monster arms, just flipping the hands in. Articulation's ok, though not great, I'd have liked a knee joint for the monster legs and the ability to open and close the monster mouth, but what we have is passable. What some of you might have noticed is the weird joint behind the monster head. That's meant for weapon storage in Monster mode and is kibble in almost every other mode. Behind it is where you can store the combiner hand though and, to bring up something I forgot to mention in the Jets review, with the exception of the Dinobots and Jazz, combiner hands in the line have been colour matching the limbs they belong to. For Dreadwind, it's purple and green with white thumbs, Blackwing's hand is all blue, and Blot's hand is dark purple and violet. What this helps with is blending it in, so it doesn't look like a hand slapped onto the back of a robot, even though it's still a hand slapped onto the back of a robot.

As per usual with combined modes, the leg's a half compressed alt mode and the arm's half robot half alt mode with a hand on the end. As for the robot mode, it's ok, not spectacular, but ok. Articulation and sculpt are on point, though a lot of the issues come from smaller things like not being able to hold his gun properly, with the largest problem being that the monster head and chest are just hanging on his back. What makes it annoying though is that the double hinge assembly that it's on can affect how the combiner joint moves when Blot's an arm or leg mode. The paint job's good, and I love the claw sculpting (though I wish it was longer in robot mode), but there's nothing huge to get excited over or get mad about. It's kinda just there.

It's kind of a shame because out of all the Terrorcons, Blot's often the most forgettable, at least to me. This was a chance to show off, make something interesting, surprising, something that they've done before with other characters. This is more in line with the norm though. Nothing earthshaking, just kinda there. Next week will either be a review of a repainted raptor or (hopefully) another Terrorcon in the form of someone a bit more exciting, Rippersnapper.
